Jwalamukhi temple is unique in its own type as there is no idol in this temple. There is a burning blue flame emerging from a rock, this is the only thing which is worshipped here. This flame is considered as the manifestation of light goddess. The temple is named after the nine different forms of light goddess such as � Mahakali, Chandi, Unpura, Ambika Bindhya Basni, Hinglaj, Saraswati and Anji Devi. This flame keeps on burning continuously without any fuel. Jwalamukhi is considered as one of the 51 shaktipeetha in India.
This temple is considered as one of the most terrific pilgrimage places of Himachal Pradesh. This place is related to sati, she was born here when gods were concentrating on getting their individual energy on the ground. All these gods wanted a relief from the atrocities of the demons. At that time sati was an Adishakti for the first time for them.
Later she was brought up by Prajapati daksha's family and got married to Lord Shiva. Parvati has burnt herself and the temple is being built where her tongue fell. The temple has no architecture sculpture present it is just a dome here along with the folding doors which are silver plated. In the centre is a hollow rock which is over a main fissure of flame. This is considered as the Mahakali's mouth.
There are total 5 aartis conducted in a day in Jwalamukhi temple. The first one is conducted early in the morning at 5 am it is Mangal aarti, the 2nd one is at sunrise called as Panjupchaar aarti. The 3rd one is at mid-noon called as the Bhog ki aarti. The 4th in the evening around 7 pm this is simple aarti and final aarti at 10 pm called as the Shaiyan ki aarti.
The last aarti at the Jwalamukhi temple is unique as it is conducted only here. The bed of the deity is decorated with beautiful costumes, jewelries and flowers. This aarti is conducted in two parts. The first one is performed in the main temple and the second one is conducted in the Sejabhavan.
People come here from all the parts of the country and offer various things as a token of love and faith and in return take the blessings of the deity.
