Hyderabad is the home to many famous temples. Temples are the places of worship for Hindu devotees. Devotees have darshan of the lord and perform pooja to the gods in temples. This cosmopolitan city boasts variety of rich Cultures. There are many famous Pilgrim attractions in and around Hyderabad city.

Birla Mandir : - Birla Mandir is one of the famous temple in Hyderabad, Located near Secretariat & Ravindra Bharati, Opp : Reserve Bank of India. Timings To visit Birla Mandir : 7am to 12pm and 2pm to 9pm. Birla Mandir is located on top of a Hill. This temple was constructed by Birlas. The idol in Birla Mandir temple is a replica of the one at the famous Tirumala Tirupati Temple God and was completed by the Birlas in 1976. The temple offers a panoramic view of the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secundrabad. The main idol in the temple is an 11 foot tall statue of Lord Venkateswara which is sculpted from black granite, specially mined and brought from Phirangipuram in Guntur district. This famous temple in Hyderabad is constrcted Mostly by Marble Stone. Scenes from Mahabharath and Ramayana are finely sculpted in the marble. Photographyis not allowed in this temple. Chilkur Balaji Temple : Located at Chilkur in Moinabad mandal. Around 23 km from Mehdipatnam, Hyderabad. Chilkur temple god sri venkateshwara is also famous as Visa Balaji . Chilkur Balaji temple is famous as number of devotees who wished to go to Abroad got there wishes filfilled after visiting this temple. It is customary to encircle chilkur balaji temple (known as Pradakshina) eleven times and pray to God for a specific wish. Once this wish comes true, the Devotee has to visit again and perform 108 Pradakshinas. This is one of the very few temples in India which does not accept monetary donations in a Hundi and therefore does not fall under the purview of endowments department of Government. Chilkut balaji temple circulates a monthly magazine “Vak” which means Speech (Of GOD), nominally priced at Rs 5.00 only. This magazine is the only source of Temple Income.

Yadagiri Gutta Temple: Yadagiri Gutta temple is the famous temple located near Hyderabad. This temple enshrines Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swami as the central deity. Temple fair is held between months of March and April every year.

ISKCON Temple: ISKCON Temple is located at nampally in Hyderabad. This temple is famous for Lord Krishna and crowded on Krishnastami as thousands of devotees visit this temple on that day. This famous temple is constructed by the ISKCON organization. Other deities of this temple are Sri Gaura-Nitai, Sri Jagannatha Baladeva-Subhadra, and Sri Radha Madana-Mohana.


Skandagiri Subramanya swamy temple: This Temple is located at Padmarao nagar in Secunderabad. This temple is famous for Subramanya swamy in twin cities.

Lord Hanuman Temple, Karmanghat: This temple is located at Karmanghat, closer to Sagar Ring Road. This temple is famous for Lord Hanuman. It is also said to be one of the oldest temples in Hyderabad city. It was built in 11th century A.D (approx 1143 A.D). The temple’s name: “Kar Man Ghath” literally means “Make your Heart Strong”. The whole temple area is about half an acre, which includes temples of other deities as well. It is said that any wish with devotion has always come true at Karmanghat temple.

Shakti temples in Hyderabad : (Peddamma temple (Goddess Durga) located at Jubilee Hills, Goddess Yellamma Temple (Renuka) at Balkampet near S.r.nagar, Goddess Mahakali Temple (similar to Mahakali of Ujjain) at Secunderabad, Goddess Chamundeshwari at Siddhipet near Medak , (this deity holds 18 hands and matches the dhyana sloka of Mahalakshmi of Madhyama Charita of Sri Chandi and is similar to the idol of Ashtadasha Bhuja Mahalakshmi of Dharmapuri Adhinam), Goddess Vanadurga at West Marredpally of Secunderabad, Goddess Pratyangira at Dilsukhnagar )

Peddamma Temple, Jubilee Hills: Peddamma temple is located at Road no.55. Jubilee Hills, This temple is famous among “Bonaalu” (A Very Colorful Local Festival – More popular in Telangana Regions of Andhra Pradesh) celebrating community. The word “Peddamma”, which is “Pedda+Amma”, literally means ‘Mother of Mothers’ or “The Supreme Mother”. She is one of the 11 forms of Village Deities and The Supreme most. The best time to visit this temple is during Bonaalu Festival period which occurs during the month of june and july every year.

Ujjaini Mahankali Temple: This temple is located at Mahankali Street, Ramgopal pet near Paradise, secunderabad. This temple is dedicated to Goddess Kali. The original idol was a wooden statue later replaced with a marble statue and re-consecrated in 1964. Best time to visit this temple is during BONALU festival.

Visweswaraalayam Temple:Location: Kolanupaka, Hyderabad:Deity: Lord Shiva.This temple is mentioned in the sthalapuranas as Bimbavathipura, Somasekharapura, and Vyakhyanagara etc. This is located near a holy well Kasibugga. This water is called apara Gangajala and the Sivalinga, apara Kasi Visweswara linga. Hence this place is named Dakshinakasi. Many ponds are found here and so it is called Kolanupaka. The linga is self- manifested and is called Kotilinga. It is four and a half feet in height, and four feet in circumference. It is adorned with thousand of small lingas carved around it forming a chain. This linga is mentioned in the puranas appeared as a gold linga in Kritayuga, silver in Treta Yuga, copper in Dwapara yuga and granite in Kaliyuga. This temple was built by King Kumara Someswara of Kalyani Chalukya dynasty. The temple is at Kolanupaka, 25 km off Bhuvanagiri.
