Badol Devi Temple Himachal Pradesh

Badol Devi Temple is located atop a hill in Badol Village in Bilaspur district, Himachal Pradesh, at a distance of 3km from Gehrwin on the Gehrwin-Dhanathar Road. The shrine is dedicated to Goddess Durga, extensively known as Badol Devi, the symbol of Mother Shakti. Legendary stories abound by the Badol Devi temple. The most talked about is that of an old man, Bhura. He had a childless cow that used to spill her milk in a definite place. After witnessing this incident, Bhura was astounded and presumed that some person had enchanted his cow. He prohibited his cow from going to that place again. One day he was furious and chopped the cow. But he was taken aback when he saw bloody milk flowing from the cow`s wounds. Finally Bhura understood everything. When people got to know about the happening, they dug up the place where the cow used to drop her milk and found a `pindi` (the base of a sacred stone or stone idols) of Goddess Durga that was later established in the shrubs nearby. Badol Devi temple can be reached from Kiratpur Railway Station, the nearest railhead.
